I saw the benches for the 6xx series that got released last week, I'm assuming that's what's linked on the first page, it was somewhat underwhelming IMO, regardless of whether it's their midrange chip or not. .
So 12fps over the 7970 and almost 18fps over the 580GTX in BF3 @ 1920x1080 with 8xMSAA, as a single card single chip solution, is underwhelming? Well then, I'm really gonna be underwhelmed

with 2 of them playing BF3 @ 2560x1600 on ultra high.
The funny thing about all of this is that it's a moot point if the card is generating anything over 60fps if you're using a 60hz monitor. If you're running a 7970 at 60fps on ultra settings, and you've spent a fuck ton of money getting the 680 to get 18fps more, then you're wasting your money because your monitor won't display those frames.
If you have a 120hz monitor though, it's a different story. If it gets you from 90fps to 120fps, then you're golden, and it would be worth it. You really have to weigh these options though, otherwise it's a boost for games that will stress your system that haven't even come out yet. And this shit moves SO fast, it's tough on our pocketbooks.
I just mean underwhelming because it's more of the same. I'd like to see a next iteration of tech be like a 50fps boost. Something that will make me salivate at the thought of changing out both of my crossfired cards that aren't that old.
Resolution is also a huge contributing factor though. Think of the folks who having 2560x1600 resolutions, or those running in Eyefinity/nVSurround. A more powerful card that can push more pixels in a bench can make a difference at larger resolutions.
